KIDS (MUDFOG PRESS)
For ten years Bob Beagrie and Andy Willoughby have worked together as writers on a wide range of youth and community projects using creative writing and drama as a means of engagement, often with difficult and hard to reach groups, with the results frequently used as models of good practice. These poems draw on their experience of young people and connects to their use of silent film, particularly to Charles Chaplin's 1921 classic 'The Kid', as a means of inspiration and engagement. The most reluctant participants have responded strongly throughout the years to the iconic image of the little tramp and this collection and their live show interrogates the enduring resonance of Chaplin's work and begs the question:
'What's changed for kids on the edge of society in the last hundred years?'
